Four tiers of going out in the North: Hullu Poro Areena's 1 700-capacity floor in Levi, the Oulu and Rovaniemi club circuits and the hotel-bar resorts.
From 1 700-capacity to 250 and the queue at the door.
Nightclubs across Lapland and the North split into four tiers. Knowing which is which is the difference between a Friday in Levi and a Friday in Salla.
Hullu Poro Areena. 1 700 capacity, 10 bars, 2 floors. The biggest nightclub in Lapland, hands down. Concert venue Wed–Sat in ski season.
The two circuits that run all year: eight venues on Oulu's 400-metre Rotuaari strip, and Rovaniemi's Koskikatu round that always ends at Roy Club, open since 1985.
Hotel Ivalo has a lobby bar and the Lapin Yö restaurant; Hotel Kultahippu keeps the village pub. There is no nightclub this far north, which is itself the point.
Wilderness destinations don't do clubs. They do hotel bars with fireplaces, aurora windows and one DJ slot a week. Different night out, same drink prices.
Aurora chasing on the way home, snowmobile sunrise rides, husky-safari pre-game.
