In the middle of nowhere. Finland's quietest ski resort.
3 300 residents and one ski slope. The town's tagline is literally "In the Middle of Nowhere" and they mean it as a compliment. Hotel Revontuli has the only bar that runs late; the slope side adds a pub or two in season. Outside winter: silence. The tongue-in-cheek "Salla 2032" Winter Games campaign put the town on the map, but the actual scene didn't change. Don't come for clubs.
The only late-evening venue. Restaurant + bar.
Lunch + day-time café for park visitors.
The Russian border is a few kilometres east. The crossing is closed; the wilderness is the point.
Last call 01:00 in season, earlier off-season.
The "Salla 2032" Winter Games bid was a tongue-in-cheek climate campaign; it fits the town's humour.
